Strange Mercy.

I've spent more money on St. Vincent in the past week than I have any other artist all year, even Bon Iver.

J. and I went down to Waterloo last weekend, where I picked up Strange Mercy on vinyl. We played it on the turntable, and I was instantly in love. So much so that the next day, I went and

bought the actual CD. I couldn't not have it on my iPod.

We all remember Actor (2009), St. Vincent's sophomore album.

I liked it a lot too, but Strange Mercy blows it out of the water.
Strange Mercy is more calm and collected, and shows a raw side of Annie Clark that Actor and Marry Me (2008) didn't even begin to cover. Clark's use of gritty guitar parts takes unsuspecting songs from demure to down and dirty real fast. "Neutered Fruit" is a prime example. For the most part, the song is floaty and dream-like, but the guitar lends the song a sudden ferocity. So, so good.

You should really go pick up this album. It's completely worth the money. Hell, I bought the CD and the vinyl.

'Til next time.

Lately.

Things have been going nicely, minus tiny personal conflicts here and there.
I'm having trouble understanding why people say the things they say, and do the things they do. I could never imagine saying some of the things that have been said to me to anyone, and all over trivial matters. Things that should be talked about, without any yelling. Then again, I'm not prone to yelling. I'm calm in crazy situations, and take control. Others don't seem to be capable of that, and I sometimes have difficulty not viewing that as a fault. I'm trying to be better. I have not purposely tried to hurt someone with my words for a long, long time. I wish people could just do the same.

Otherwise, things are good. I've been working on my Halloween costume for about a week now; I'll be a gypsy by force (thanks to work).

This week, I'm loving:
Iain Mckell and his gypsies.

Bon Iver, St. Vincent, Beirut, and... Skrillex.
A little dubstep never hurt anyone, haha.

Until next time.

lazy fall.

these past few days
have been spent wisely.
we've explored caves,
i've been spoiled (rather horribly),
and i've been reading Le Petit Prince
to this new gentleman
who may be around
for quite a while.
do you know that feeling,
when someone is so familiar
you know you must have been together
in a previous life?
we have that.
i guess we'll see what happens
from here,
but something tells me this
is something good.
until next time.

Right This Second.

I should be asleep, mostly because I'm getting up in a little over six hours to drive to Austin and pick up my (soon to no longer be) boyfriend from the airport.

I'm preparing to make a change; I'm tired of my kindness being taken advantage of and under appreciated.

I'm finally working on music I've always talked about making.

I'm listening to an odd mix of Bon Iver, David Ramirez, Greg Laswell, and old Iron and Wine.

I'm hoping for rain.

Fresh.

This has to be the third or fourth time I've re-invented myself on the internet. I don't really know what I'm going for, or if I even have an objective. I just have thoughts, and this will become my external storage unit for them so my mind won't be so crowded all the time.

I like music and I love people. I go to school to study their habits and behaviors. I have a house in an empty little town, complete with a cat or two. I like nature and believe in souls and afterlife. I have an odd appreciation for facial hair on men and I love to cook. So here we go.
